Questions To Use To Vet A Potential Puppy Buyer

Here are some handy questions you may wish to put to potential new Stafford owners who come to see your pups.

  • What type of house do you live in? Apartment? Yard? etc.
  • What hours do you work?
  • What kind of work do you do?
  • Why do you want a SBT?
  • Have you owned a dog before?
  • Are you married? Do you have any kids?
  • Do you have any other pets?
  • Have you ever kept a Stafford before?
  • Will the pup/dog have someone at home with them at all times?
  • Do you have the room for a new Stafford
  • Do you realise that they are originally fighting dogs and may not tolreate other dogs or pets?
  • Are pets permitted at your dwelling place.
  • If you have never owned a stafford before, why do you want one now?
  • Do you work and if so will the pup ever be left alone for long periods?
  • If so, what provisions will you make for such times (if its an odd occasion only) ?
  • What arrangements will you make for holiday times etc?
  • If you buy a pup to show, what will you do if the pup doesnt live up to expectation?
  • Will the pup be living inside or outside?
  • Have you thought of the expense that may be involved in owning a dog ( possible vet fees etc) ?
  • How would you expect to deal with any issues that may occur ?
  • Do all members of the family agree on having a dog in the home?
  • Would you be happy for me to visit your home before parting with a puppy?
  • Would you be happy for me to keep in touch after you've taken your pup home?
  • Have you done any research on the breed, do you know what to expect?
  • Would you be happy to sign my contract of ownership, which I may provide upon request?


And also offer general advice about microchipping / pet insurance etc .
